Why I Teach Yoga and Pilates

I was first introduced to yoga over 20 years ago, and from the very beginning, I knew it would become a lifelong and essential part of who I am. Yoga touched not only my body, but also my heart and soul. It taught me how to breathe deeply, cultivate awareness, and find steadiness through the difficult and often challenging moments life can bring. This profound and transformative experience inspired me to share my love of yoga with both my local community and the wider world.

In 2012, I formally committed to this path by completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training. Since then, I have continued to expand my knowledge through specialized studies in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, and Kundalini practices. In 2019, when my father was diagnosed with kidney cancer, my understanding of mindful movement deepened even further. Witnessing his journey reinforced how powerful conscious breath and gentle, intentional movement can be in supporting resilience, grounding, and presence during life’s most vulnerable seasons. This experience led me to pursue Reformer Pilates training and ultimately earn certification in Cancer Exercise.

At the core of my teaching philosophy is a commitment to making movement—physical, mental, and energetic—accessible to every body, regardless of age, ability, or background. I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel seen, supported, and empowered to listen to their own bodies.

As I continue completing my yoga therapy hours, with a focus on myofascial release and the principles of Chinese medicine, my work has become increasingly rooted in healing, balance, and nervous system regulation. These modalities allow me to support the body as a whole—honoring its interconnected systems and innate capacity for healing. Teaching yoga and Pilates is not just what I do; it is how I hold space for others to reconnect with themselves, cultivate resilience, and move through life with greater ease, awareness, and compassion.
